NIC Odisha State Centre bags Manthan Award - 2013

e-Sakhyam - Accessibility portal for State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Odisha with case management system  developed by  NIC, Odisha State Centre  has been awarded the Manthan 2013 Special Mention Award under the “e-Inclusion and Localisation” category in the recently held Manthan Awards 2013 (Asia Pacific South Asia) function at New Delhi.
Earlier, the e-Sakhyam application was selected as Finalist. All the Finalists made presentations during the two-day Manthan Awards event in New Delhi. Dr. R N Behera, Sr. Technical Director, NIC Odisha State centre made the presentation at India Habitant Centre, New Delhi and based on it, the Manthan Award 2013 (Special Mention) was given to the e-Sakhyam  initiative.
Manthan Award for ‘Social Media & Empowerment’ is a first of its initiative to recognize the BEST use of ICT and digital tools to create holistic and comprehensive impact on people. The award is given to the organisations engaged in promoting digital content inclusiveness in the whole of South Asian & Asia Pacific Nations for development.
e-Sakhyam (http://scpdodisha.nic.in ) - the portal of the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Odisha (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995  is accessible to all users, irrespective of the device and technology in use or ability.
e-Sakhyam is accessible to all users, irrespective of the device and technology in use or ability. It has been built with an aim to provide maximum accessibility and usability to its visitors. As a result, this website can be viewed from a variety of devices such as Desktop / Laptop computers, web-enabled mobile devices, WAP phones, PDAs, etc. Best efforts have been put to ensure that all information on this website is accessible to differently able persons. For example, a user with visually impaired can access this portal using assistive technologies, such as screen readers and screen magnifiers.
The online case management system is integrated with this portal. Through this system a citizen (PwD) can lodge the complaint, views the status of the complaint, receives SMS alert when the case is lodged, when the case is considered for hearing and after disposal of the complaint.
Verification of authenticity of disability certificates on line by Medical Officers is carried out online through the portal.
