Launch of Drugs Free Assam Mobile App

10 Dec 2021 Guwahati : Drugs Free Assam Mobile App was launched by Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam Police on 10th December 2021 in presence of Director General - Narcotics Control Bureau.
The launch was during the opening ceremony of the 2-day training programme “Digital Forensics, Dark Net & Crypto Currencies” . Law Enforcement Officers from eight North-Eastern States, Paramilitary Forces, Department of Revenue Intelligence, Department of Customs participated in the event.

The NIC Himachal Drug Free App was taken as the base while developing tha pp for Assam.   The mobile app has been developed by NIC Assam with inputs provided by CID Assam.

NIC Himachal Pradesh provided valuable inputs during development of the Mobile App. The NIC Assam team involved with the Mobile App are Sh. Diganta Barman, STD & HoG ,Sh. Sumitav Saikia, STD & HoD  and Sh. Gautam Chandra Deva Sarma, Scientist B.

Drugs Free Assam is a public-facing mobile app to allow anybody to report any suspicious activity/person regarding drugs to the police. The app has the categories to report to police by public of the following illegal activities -

  • Shipment Coming/Going of Drugs
  • Storage of Drugs
  • Usages of Drugs
  • Selling of Drugs
  • Promoting Drugs
  • Others (Anything related to drugs not in the list)


Through this app, anybody can inform about suspicious persons or events with photographs along with GPS coordinates. The informer has to verify his mobile for the first time using the app. After the mobile number is verified, the citizen can directly report any suspicious activity or event. The app also has some informative content like De-Addiction/Re-habitation Centres of Assam, Harmful Effects of Drugs, how to identify drug users, Major Facts about Narcotics Law, and some advice for Parents, Students and Teachers. Also, Contact details of Assam police and Nasha Nivaran Helpline No are also provided.
