Election Quiz Mobile App Developed by NIC Himachal Pradesh Launched by CEO

Sh. Manish Garg, Chief Electoral Officer Himachal Pradesh launched the Election Quiz Mobile App on 10th May 2024 in Dharamshala District Kangra. The idea of Mobile App has been envisaged by  Sh. Hem Raj Bairwa, District Election Officer, Kangra with an objective to educate and actively involve the staff being deployed for various election duties. The Mobile App has been designed and developed by National Informatics Centre, Himachal Pradesh and is available on android and iOS platform. This app will be used by all polling officials who are being deployed on election duty in the forthcoming General Elections for Lok Sabha 2024 in Himachal Pradesh.

Separate question bank has been created for Presiding Officer, Micro Observer and Counting Staff. The app provides mechanism to conduct quiz consisting of 20 multiple choice questions picked randomly from the question bank. The participant (deployed polling/counting officials) has to answer these questions which are covering various aspects of the electoral process related with the duty to be performed by the participant.

The participant can take multiple quiz till the performance of the participant is satisfactory. Immediate feedback on quiz performance will help users to understand their mistakes and learn from them. Their strengths and weaknesses will also be available to RO and AROs. All the previous attempts score will also be available to individual polling official through this app. The response given by individual and the correct answer of each question will also be shown to the individual.

The idea behind this initiative is to familiarize the Presiding Officers, Polling Officials and Micro-observers with the Election process and to understand as to what are their duties and know the steps to be taken in different situations that may arise on polling day. Training materials, Do and Don’t is also provided in the app to educate the deployed staff.

The “Election Quiz” App has been meticulously designed to enhance the skills, reinforce the learning, and motivate the polling personnel. This app is an innovative tool aimed at ensuring that all individuals involved in the election process are well-prepared, knowledgeable, and confident in their roles to perform the election duty.

Sh. Bhupinder Pathak, DIO Kangra gave detailed presentation of various features of this app during the launch. During the launch, Sh. Manish Garg (IAS), Chief Electoral Officer, Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Hem Raj Bairwa (IAS) Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Kangra, Mrs. Shalini Agnihotri (IPS) Superintendent of Police Kangra, Sh. Ashok Rattan, (IPS) Superintendent of Police Nurpur, Sh. Saurabh Jassal (IAS) ADC Kangra, Sh. Akshay Mehta, ADIO Kangra and all the AROs were present.
