2 - Day Zonal Workshop on eTransport eTRANS-2025 conducted at Hotel Mount View, Chandigarh

Inaugural session marked by the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony and address by the Honorable Minister & other distinguished dignitaries

NIC in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) organized a 2-day zonal workshop titled “eTRANS-2025” from June 16-17, 2025 at Hotel Mount View,  Chandigarh. Representatives from 12 states and union territories: Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi attended the workshop.
 

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Anil Vij, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Power and Labour, Government of Haryana. The inaugural session commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries. A warm welcome address was delivered by Shri Joydeep Shome, Deputy Director General & HoG, eTransport, NIC HQ.

The opening remark was given by Shri Inder Pal Singh Sethi, Deputy Director General & State coordinator for Haryana emphasized on need and importance of the eTransport workshop. He stated that e-Transport system is a critical component of digital governance, aimed at transforming the transport sector by integrating technology-driven solutions.

Sh. Anil Vij, Hon’ble Minister in his inaugural address emphasized on importance of Technology in Governance. He stated that under the nation’s ongoing digital initiatives, various schemes are being digitized across the country. He underscored the importance of leveraging technology to strengthen administrative systems and reduce human intervention. The digitization of government services, he noted, is a crucial step toward building a more efficient and accountable system.

Shri V. Umashankar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India highlighted the Role of Data and Technology in Governance. Shri Umashankar addressed the audience via video conference and highlighted the significance and necessity of organizing such workshops. He emphasized the effective use of data and emerging technologies in enhancing governance. Shri Umashankar shared that numerous government services have been made faceless, which has significantly simplified procedures for citizens. This transformation, he noted, not only helps eliminate corruption but also results in substantial savings of time and resources, making service delivery more transparent and efficient.

On Day-1, a briefed presentation was made by Shri Joydeep Shome, Deputy Director General & HoG, eTransport, NIC HQ on eTransport.

On Day-1 and 2, the detailed presentations on various initiatives within the e-Transport system such as Vahan, Sarathi, eChallan, mParivahan, PUCC, Aadhaar Authentication online services, ITS, ICCC, VVMP, Dashboard & Analytics Portal, eDetection, Cashless Scheme, Sanjaya, eDAR and Bhashini Portal were delivered by officers from NIC and MoRTH.

Presentations by state officials on new initiatives, achievements, and suggestions were also made, followed by a discussion session.

A cultural programme was also hosted on 16/06/2025 to familiarize the delegates with Haryana’s vibrant culture, and it received high appreciation from the participants.

Shri Sarbjeet Singh, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer (SIO), NIC Haryana expressed sincere appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of state government officials and professionals throughout the workshop. He underscored the significance of their active engagement in exploring and utilizing the various modules of the e-Transport system.

Shri Singh also extended heartfelt thanks to the distinguished speakers for their insightful presentations and valuable contributions. He noted that their expertise and comprehensive explanations greatly enhanced the participants' understanding of the system and its potential benefits, paving the way for more effective implementation across departments.

The Commissioner and Secretary, Transport Department Haryana Sh. T.L. Satyaprakash, officers from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India and representatives from the Transport Department and NIC from 12 states and Union Territory were also present at the workshop.
