The eVidhan project of Himachal Pradesh has been conferred with the State Civil Services Award 2015 for being an excellent eGovernance tool. The eVidhan has enabled the HP Assembly to become the first digital Assembly in the country.
The award was presented to the eVidhan team by Honourable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Virbhadra Singh on 15th April 2015, the Statehood day of the State. The award carries a Commendation Certificate and a cash prize of Rs.2.5 lakh. The award by received by Sh. Sunder Singh Verma, Secretary, HP Vidhan Sabha and Sh. Dharmesh Kumar, Technical Director, NIC.
Sh. Brij Bihari Lal Butail, the Honourable Speaker of HP Assembly has been the driving force for securing funds from GoI and also get the project developed and implemented in the Assembly. Under the project, the touch screen have been installed on the seats of all members and complete proceedings, questions, answers, supporting documents are made available to the members in eBook format. The process of sending questions and receiving replies from different Departments has also been made online. This has resulted in savings in terms of paper usage and time spent in manual compilation work.
The Ministers and members have been provided with laptops with Internet and WiFi dongles to enable them to easily access the entire Assembly proceedings online.
The project has been funded by DeitY, GoI and implemented jointly by NIC, NICSI and SBL.
