The word Maharashtra, the land of the Marathi speaking people, appears to be derived from Maharashtri, an old form of Prakrit. Located in the north centre of Peninsular India, with a command of the Arabian Sea through its port of Mumbai, Maharashtra has a remarkable physical homogeneity, enforced by its underlying geology. It is one of the leading industrial states of the country and is popularly known as the Economic Capital of India. Today, the state is giving its people every opportunity to raise above all odds and thereby the Government of Maharashtra is using IT as the best medium to upgrade its citizens with the contemporary world.
