NIC Haryana organized one day Regional Workshop on MedLEaPR at Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Chandigarh on 14/01/2026

One day Regional Workshop on MedLEaPR (Medico Legal Examination and Post-Mortem Reporting) organised by NIC Haryana on January 14, 2026, at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Chandigarh. Representatives from 9 states and union territories like Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi attended the workshop. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, Supreme Court of India inaugurated the workshop in the presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Harsimran Singh Sethi, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jagmohan Bansal, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Haryana and Sh. Varindra Seth, DDG & State Coordinator NIC Haryana on the dais. A warm welcome address was delivered by Shri Varindra Seth, Deputy Director General & State Coordinator, NIC-Haryana on behalf of Director General NIC. The dignitaries on the dais formally unveiled the Compendium on MedLEaPR, highlighting its significance as a comprehensive reference document aimed at medico-legal examination and post-mortem reporting practices through the MedLEaPR platform. The MedLEaPR mobile application was soft-launched by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, Supreme Court of India. Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Haryana appreciated the initiative taken by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in implementing MedLEaPR and emphasized that suggestions and feedback received during the workshop will further strengthen and improve the platform, making medico-legal reporting more reliable, standardized and efficient. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, highlighted that MedLEaPR streamlines medico-legal and post-mortem records, addressing delays, standardization and authenticity issues through secure digitization and integration. Justice Nagu expressed confidence that the launch of the MedLEaPR Compendium and Mobile Application, supported by ongoing training, will further enhance reliable and accountable medico-legal reporting. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal highlighted the significance of the MedLEaPR system as a major reform in medico-legal and post-mortem reporting. He appreciated the technical support provided by NIC Haryana and emphasized that collaboration between judicial and technical experts was key to developing a robust, PAN-India digital solution at minimal cost. State Nodal Officer of MedLEaPR from 9 States and UTs shared their implementation strategy, best practices, challenges and future way forward. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, during the Valedictory Session, emphasized the importance of technology in strengthening the judicial system. He highlighted that the MedLEaPR platform is an important initiative that helps citizens by reducing delays in justice delivery and bringing timely justice closer to the common man. He encouraged all participants to provide inputs and suggestions for further improvement of MedLEaPR. Shri Sarbjeet Singh, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer (SIO), NIC Haryana expressed sincere appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of State Nodal Officers, NIC State Coordinators and Master Trainers of MedLEaPR.
