The folklore here has deep interest in art and culture which beautifully reflects in its celebrations. Music and dance is an integral part of the lives of Manipuris. People of Manipur love games & sports also and a number of athletes from the state represent India at various competitions. The first Prime Minister of India, the Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, described Manipur as a Jewel of India, bewitching beholders with its natural beauty and its cultural paraphernalia.
