Cyber Safety Awareness Programme Under PM Shri Scheme

In recognition of the growing need for online safety education in today's complex digital world, the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Sribhumi District Unit, organized a comprehensive two-day Cybersecurity Awareness Programme on January 18-19, 2026, at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sribhumi.

The programme was delivered by District Informatics Officer Mr. Reetesh Srivastava and attended by students from Science and Commerce streams in the presence of Principal Shri Yogesh Kumar and other school staff members. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between technical connectivity and personal security, helping students navigate the internet safely and confidently.

Special Emphasis on Female Students

While addressing universal digital risks, the programme placed particular emphasis on empowering female students. Acknowledging that girls are often disproportionately targeted by specific online malpractices, dedicated sessions were conducted to discuss protection strategies against digital harassment and threats. The objective was to create an environment where female students can utilise the internet as a tool for growth, safely and responsibly.

Comprehensive Coverage of Digital Safety

The workshop transcended basic theoretical instruction, offering practical insights into several vital areas of digital citizenship. Students were educated on protecting personal information, learning what organisers termed the "Gold Standard" of data privacy—techniques to shield sensitive details from data harvesters and hackers.

The programme included an in-depth examination of cyber bullying, covering the identification of online harassment and the emotional and legal significance of maintaining a responsible digital footprint. Students were encouraged to exercise caution before clicking, posting, or sharing content, with emphasis on the real-world consequences of digital actions.

Specialised guidance was provided on safe social media practices, including privacy settings management, friend request vetting, and recognition of warning signs of predatory behaviour. A crucial component of the training was incident reporting, which provided students with a clear roadmap on responding to cyber threats, including specific channels for reporting cybercrimes and seeking immediate assistance.

Building Cyber-Smart Citizens

The two-day event concluded with heightened awareness among participants at PM Shri JNV Sribhumi. The collaboration between NIC Sribhumi and the educational institution reflects a shared commitment to developing a generation of "Cyber-Smart" citizens—young minds who are not merely consumers of technology, but informed guardians of their own digital lives, equipped to build a more resilient digital future.
