NIC Odisha State Centre has brought the glory to the state in the field of Information Technology (IT) by receiving the Skoch Digital Inclusion Awards-2014.
In a mega award ceremony and conference on Digital India 2.0, Minimum Government Maximum Governance at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Awards were received by Dr R N Behera, Sr. Technical Director, NIC Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
The awards were received in two different areas:
- e-Pothi (http://odishamuseum.nic.in ) : Online Cataloguing of Manuscripts of Odisha State Museum
The objective of the project is to Facilitate researchers, students, scholars across the Globe to get online access the rare manuscripts of Odisha, spread awareness among the people about the Indian culture and heritage, and virtual walk through of the Museum.
Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhi, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Culture is taking all initiation for successful implementation of the project.
(2) ‘e-Nijukti’ (http://www.empmissionodisha.gov.in ) : Odisha State Employment Mission - Online capture unemployed youths, impart skill development training and provide jobs.
e-Nijukti of Government of Odisha initiative is taken to increase the job opportunity and skill development through use of Information and Communication Technology(ICT) which plays a pivotal role for instituting effective e-Governance, and essentially bridges the gap between government and citizens.
Lower qualified youths are captured online through this system, imparted skill development training and suitably absorbed by job providers is the basic motto of this project.
With National Informatics Centre as Knowledge Partner, this initiative is taken up by Government of Odisha to bring transparency in processes involved in Employment Mission activities and to prevent leakage of public money in form of reimbursement for fake candidate’s training and their placement.
Dr Chandra Sekhar Kumar, IAS Commissioner-cum-Secretary Employment Technical Education and Training is taking all initiative to implement this project in grass root level.
The team comprising Dr R N Behera, Sr. Technical Director, Sri A.K.Pattanayak, PSA, Smt Namita Senapati, PSA, Sri S.K.Sahoo, PSA, Sri B.L.Gupta, SO/Engr-‘SB’ have developed the applications under the guidance of Sri S.K.Panda, DDG & SIO, NIC, Odisha.
Sri Ashok Kr. Panda, Hon’ble Minister, Tourism & Culture, Govt of Odisha highly appreciated the endeavour of NIC and congratulated NIC Odisha team in achieving the success of e-Pothi. e-Pothi concept was also highly appreciated by Sri Saktikant Das, IAS, Secretary revenue, Government of India.
