Launching of Odisha Districts Geo-Portal

The Odisha District Geo-Portal was formally launched on 17th December 2025 by the Hon’ble Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Health & Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, during the District Informatics Officers (DIO) Conference held at Bhubaneswar. The launch marks a major milestone in Odisha’s journey towards data-driven governance and digitally empowered decision-making.

The Geo-Portal is a comprehensive, multi-layered GIS platform covering all 30 districts of the State. It integrates a wide range of spatial and non-spatial datasets, including administrative boundaries and locations, natural resources, communication networks, agricultural assets, sector-specific datasets, along with base map services. The platform is designed to serve as a single point of access for district-level geospatial information, enabling planners and administrators to make informed and timely decisions.

While addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling underscored the growing importance of geo-spatial technology in various facets of governance in Odisha. He emphasized how the Odisha District Geo-Portal would significantly support planning, monitoring and policy formulation, and enhance transparency and efficiency in administrative processes.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Rout, Special Secretary, Electronics & IT Department and CEO, Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), along with Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General & State Informatics Officer, NIC Odisha, graced the occasion. Officers from State and District NIC units were also present, reflecting the collective commitment towards leveraging advanced geospatial technologies for governance.

The launch of the Odisha District Geo-Portal represents a decisive step in harnessing GIS and digital innovation to strengthen governance and public service delivery across the State.
