Haryana : e-Mausam: Weather Forecasting and Agro Advisory Project received Skoch Order of Merit Award 2014

SIO Haryana Receiving the e Mausam Award at the 37th Skoch Summit on Minimum Government  Maximum Governance on 19th September

e-Mausam was initiated with the joint efforts of NIC  and Department of Meteorology, CCS Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar and with the vision that the weather conditions play vital role specially in agriculture sector and also the value added agro advisory based on the present or future weather conditions amounts better productivity in farm operations and furthering the farmers and overall the farmer’s community including agriculture scientists.

Weather Forecasting and on time Agro Advisories using web application (http://emausamhau.gov.in) and SMS alerts using NIC-SMS gateway are extending more lead time to the farmers and farmer’s community by minimizing farm losses due to abnormal weather conditions and also increase their farm productivity with the efficient management of day to day farm operations. Agro-advisory bulletins /alerts comprise weather forecast and action of management practices to be taken by the farmers in respect of various crops/animals.

Analytical e-dashboard equipped with statistical analysis presenting in the form of line graphs are also being placed on the portal along with the other parameter like the present weather and geographical parameters on daily basis which includes minimum and maximum temperature, relative humidity conditions, wind speed, wind direction, evaporation, rainfalls and advisory alert /remark by the agriculture scientist/expert.

About one lakh farmers and agriculture scientists in the state of Haryana are being catered by the system and getting overwhelming benefit in their farm operations. Approximately 85 lacs SMS in total so far have been send to the farmers at different interval. The portal is bilingual (English and Hindi) and is  capable to send the SMS  both in English and Hindi.

The project was inaugurated by  Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana and dedicated to the Farmers of Haryana  on 18/12/2013 in a govt  function at Civil Secretariat Chandigarh.
