Durg District Leads in Implementation of MedLEaPR Platform

Durg district has taken a major step in modernizing medico-legal documentation by successfully implementing the MedLEaPR (Medico-Legal Examination and Post-Mortem Reporting) platform. With this, Durg has become one of the leading districts in Chhattisgarh to digitize medico-legal reports and ensure better coordination between health and law enforcement agencies.

Digital Transformation in Durg

The MedLEaPR platform, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), has been adopted across 13 health centers of Durg district. So far, 18 doctors have been trained and are actively using the system for preparing medico-legal cases (MLCs) and post-mortem reports (PMRs). With their efforts, a remarkable 1381 cases have already been digitized.

This shift from handwritten reports to digital documentation has brought significant change in the way medico-legal work is being carried out in the district. Earlier, reports were often delayed or prone to manual errors. Now, through MedLEaPR, reports are prepared in a standardized and secure digital format.

Integration with Law and Order in the District

One of the most important features of MedLEaPR is its integration with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). This ensures that medico-legal reports prepared in Durg can be directly accessed by the police, forensic laboratories, and judicial authorities. The district is already witnessing smoother coordination between its hospitals and police stations, which is helping investigations proceed faster and more transparently.

Benefits for Durg District

The successful use of MedLEaPR in Durg has brought multiple benefits:

1- Efficient Documentation: Doctors in the district now prepare reports digitally, reducing delays.

2- Transparency: With secure online storage, records are safe from tampering or loss.

3- Better Coordination: Durg’s police and health departments can now share data instantly.

4- Time-Saving: Citizens and authorities benefit from quicker medico-legal processes.

5- Stronger Governance: Digital records have improved accountability and trust in the system.

A Model for Other Districts

By digitizing over 1381 medico-legal cases within a short span, Durg district has demonstrated how technology can strengthen both healthcare and justice delivery. The District Administration’s commitment, along with the cooperation of doctors and health centers, has made the initiative a success.

Durg’s achievement with MedLEaPR is not only improving the district’s medico-legal services but also setting a strong example for other districts of Chhattisgarh to follow.
