In a significant step towards citizen-centric digital governance, the Union Territory of Puducherry launched the Services Portal for the Welfare Departments and Civil Supplies Department on July 8, 2025. The portal was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Kailashnathan, I.A.S. (Retd), at a ceremony held in Puducherry.
The launch event witnessed the esteemed presence of Ministers, Department Secretaries, the State Informatics Officer of NIC Puducherry, and Heads of Departments from various sectors. The new portal is aimed at simplifying access to welfare schemes and civil supplies services, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and timely delivery of benefits to eligible citizens.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Kailashnathan emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive development and seamless public service delivery. He lauded the collaborative efforts of the Welfare Departments, the Civil Supplies Department, and NIC Puducherry in making the portal a reality.
The portal integrates a range of citizen services, including online application tracking, eligibility verification, and delivery status notifications. It is expected to reduce paperwork, enhance accountability, and streamline backend operations across departments.
With this launch, Puducherry continues its journey toward a more digitally empowered administration, in line with the national vision of Digital India.
