Mormugao Port, GOA one of the oldest ports on the west coast of India, with a fine natural harbour, has been relentlessly serving the nation in its economic development for over a century. It is the premier iron ore exporting Port of India with an annual throughput of around 50.02 million tonnes of traffic.
Inspired by the success of e-procurement at Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) requested NIC for a presentation on GePNIC during the month of April 2012. After presentation by NIC Odisha team they requested for a project proposal from NIC. Accordingly a project proposal was submitted by NIC to take up the e-procurement of MPT through the Central Public Procurement Portal which was subsequently accepted by the board of MPT.
Mormugao Port Trust hosted their first tender through CPPP on 13th December 2012. This was launched by Chairman MPT, Shri P Mara Pandiyan, IAS in presence of all senior officers of MPT and Shri M.Manivannan, Sr Technical Director,NIC Chennai.
Prior to that, on 11th December 2012 a training on GePNIC was conducted for MPT officers with detailed presentation on how to create , publish tenders, issue of Corrigendum , Opening, evaluation and issue of AOC through the CPPP. On 12th December 2012 prospective bidders of MPT were trained in enrolment and bid submission process. The response was overwhelming from the bidders. The trainings were conducted by Shri Tapan Prakash Ray, Technical Director and Shri Nihar Ranjan Biswal, Principal Systems Analyst, NIC Odisha. Shri Abhay Kesarkar, Deputy Director, MPT coordinated the programme from MPT side.
On 14th December 2012 a review meeting on implementation of GePNIC was conducted by Chairman cum Managing Director , Goa Shipyard Ltd RAdm Vineet Bakshi,VSM in which all Directors and HODs were present. Issues raised by GSL team were answered by NIC team. It may be worthwhile to mention here that GePNIC is operational in GSL since December 2011.
