Launching of the Portal

Chief Secretary Sri Asit Tripathy, IAS launched the “e-Gazette” portal (http://egazetteodisha.nic.in) in the presence of  Development Commissioner Sri Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner Sri P. K. Mohapatra, IAS along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Sri Mahendra Pratap, ADG & Director Government Printing Press, Smt. Pratibha Singh, DDG & SIO, NIC Odisha and Sri Ashok Kumar Mohanty, Scientist-F and Project Coordinator, NIC  and Senior officers of various departments, Print & Electronic Media.
Launching the portal, Chief Secretary directed all departments to make use of the portal for all gazette notifications. He said, “e-Gazette is a milestone in Governance. The system while expediting the process of Gazette publication will make it error free and paperless. This will also save transportation of trucks of papers from Government Press to departments, districts and other quarters”.
The efforts made by NIC which is first of its kind in the country was highly appreciated by the Chief Secretary during his Inauguration speech. 
Presenting details of the system with the video clip, Principal Secretary Commerce & Transport Sri G. Srinivas, IAS, said, “e-Gazette will provide the facility for department wise, subject wise and key word wise search of the notifications. One need not run to Government Press or Secretariat to get a copy of the Gazette. One can have it at his fingertips by logging on to http:// egazetteodisha.nic.in.” Secretary also appreciated the efforts made by NIC to develop the software with the concept of e-sign. Secretary also emphasized that the implementation of e-Gazette system will save paper printout and cost of about Rs. 9.2 crore annually. Special Secretary Commerce & Transport Sri Manoj Mishra said, “Odisha gazette is a public journal and an authorized legal document of the Government of Odisha published weekly on every Friday.  Extraordinary issues are also published as and when required depending upon urgency of the matter for publication. e-Gazette portal has been designed for making the government gazette ecofriendly.
The workflow was presented in the meeting showing that the user departments would register themselves in the portal. They would upload their content material which would be scrutinized by the Government Press as per the norms. The number and date of the gazette would also be there on the portal. The electronic signature i.e. e-sign has been introduced for a better and secure authentication of the intending departments for avoiding the possibility of any manipulation in the contents.
