Launch of Emergency Medical Response Ambulance Services 108

Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh inaugurating the Ambulance Service-108

Health department, Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with Police Department launched the “Emergency Medical Response Ambulance Services-108” on 26th January 2016 at Government Multispecialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The service was launched by Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator in the presence of Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary cum Health Secretary, Sh Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh and other senior functionaries of Chandigarh Administration.

 The Ambulance services will automate all the activities of the call centre and support activities of emergency handling, such as medical assistance to critical patients, ambulance management and equipment management.

NIC Chandigarh has developed a Web based Solution to book and release these Ambulances. Caller and Patient's basic information is fed into the system and immediately an Ambulance nearest to the Patient's location is booked. The Patient and the caller is informed regarding the booking through SMS with Driver's Mobile Number and Ambulance Registration Number. Also the Driver is informed through SMS regarding the Location and Mobile No. of the Caller/Patient.  Different Reports for efficient management of the system covering patient information i.e. address, patient Problem, hospital taken to, age, gender, Ambulance booking and releasing Date & Time and trip information are readily available through the application.

The basic life support ambulances are equipped with patient transfer equipments like scoop stretchers, folding stretchers, first aid kits, oxygen cylinder and with central control room operating 24X7 from 108 for U.T Chandigarh. The patient can be shifted to any of the hospitals in U.T Chandigarh, namely PGI, GMCH-32, GMSH-16, Civil Hospital Manimajra , Sector-45 and Sector-22. 108 emergency response ambulance service is offered free to emergency victims and patients.
