Sh. Bikram Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Industries, Labour and Employment, Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development, TCP, Housing, Sh. Suresh Kashyap, MP, Sh. Anil Khachi, Chief Secretary, Sh. K.K. Pant, Principal Secretary (Transport), Dr. R.N. Batta, Advisor to HCM, Sh. Sandeep Kumar, Managing Director, HRTC were present on the occasion.

Assam Transport Minister appreciates NIC role

Guwahati, February 04, 2020: The Hon’ble Transport Minister of Assam Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary today took a Comprehensive Review on Performance & Infrastructure of District Transport Officers’  at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati . The review was attended by all the District Transport Officers of Assam and was conducted in the presence of the Commissioner & Secretary, Transport, Shri KK Dwivedi, the Commissioner Transport, Shri Adil Khan and the Transport Project Coordinator of NIC, Shri Rubaiyat-ul Ali.   

Launching of e-Checkpost in Transport Department, Odisha

e-Checkpost is a web based portal where the vehicle owners of other states can pay the border tax before entering into Odisha. In Odisha, border check gates have been abolished, so the vehicle owners of other state intent to enter into Odisha were facing problem in paying the border tax and getting permits. They had to come to any nearest Regional Transport Office for this. NIC has developed a common web application (, to pay the other state tax and to get the permit.

District Transport Office, South Salmara, Assam inaugurated with online Vahan, Sarathi

South Salmara, Assam, January 04, 2020: A new District Transport Office (DTO) was inaugurated by the the Commissioner Transport Assam, Shri Adil Khan, IAS, on January 04, 2020 in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, South Salmara, Smt Atika Sultana, IAS, Senior Technical Director, NIC Shri Rubaiyat-ul Ali and Shri Kailash Kalita, Deputy Transport Commissioner Shri Dipajyoti Chakraborty and Technical Director, NIC Shri Bibhujjal Bhattacharjya.

Smart Card based RCs and VAHAN Enforcement Module started in STA Office

Sh. Anil Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Transport, UT Chandigarh  inaugurated various services at the office of Secretary, State Transport Authority, Sector 18 Chandigarh  on 8th February 2013. Smart card based printing of Registration certificates of Commercial Vehicles has commenced from the office of STA, which would benefit the applicants. The printing of Registration Certificates of taxis series (CH02, CH02AA) and  Radio Taxis series (CH01TR) will be undertaken at this office. Another facility that has been started is the  enforcement module of VAHAN Software.

Launch of SMART Card based Driving License in Uttar Pradesh

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Akhilesh Yadav launched the SMART card based driving license in the state on 9th January 2013 at the regional transport office Lucknow.  Under this scheme, the new DL will come in tamper proof plastic cards embedded with a microprocessor chip. The chip will have important details of the applicants like name, date-of-birth etc.. The ‘SARATHI’ software developed by National Informatics Centre is being used to digitize the applicant’s information and also to help the RTO in preparing a database on all information related to vehicle.

High Security Registration Plates launched in UT Chandigarh

In pursuance to provisions made under section 41(6) of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 read with Rule 50 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 as notified by the Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to introduce High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) System in India, Sh. Anil Kumar, IAS, Home Secretary –cum- Transport Secretary Chandigarh Administration inaugurated the affixation work of HSRP on 28th Feb 2013,  in the premises of Registering and Licensing Authority, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Also present on the occasion were Mr Kavle V.

Launch of SARATHI software based Smart Card Driving Licenses (SCDL) in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has decided to roll out of SARATHI software based Smart Card Driving Licenses across the State by dividing the districts in a phase wise manner starting from January 9, 2013. Etawah being in third phase was inaugurated by District Magistrate, Etawah, Shri P  Guruprasad, IAS on 26-Feb-2013. The DM visited the RTO Office to register his thumb impression and photograph to get the SMART Card based License made. He told the people and media present that the new electronic system will curb the issuance of bogus driving licenses in the district and state.
